POLITICS2023: Oshiomhole officially declares for Edo North Senatorial  Published on 5, April   By Alabi Quadri A former National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has formally joined the Edo North Senatorial race ahead of the 2023 general elections. Oshiomole, who served the state for two tenure, made his intention known on Monday during his 70th birthday party at Iyamoh. Recall that APC leaders from the 10 wards of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the State, had called on the people if the senatorial district to persuade the former governor to run for the seat. The former Executive Director, Oil andGas and a Chieftain of the ruling APC, Vitalis Eshokene had also called on Oshiomhole to represent the Edo North Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State, Vitalis Eshokene had called on Oshiomhole to consider representing the Edo North Senatorial District at the upper chamber through the coming election. 

By Alabi Quadri  Two days after Super Eagles of Nigeria lost to Black Star of Ghana in World cup qualifier match played in MKO, Abiola Stadium, Abuja, Augustine Eguavoen resigned as head coach of the Nigerian football team, bringing his three-month stay in office to an end. This is his third stint as Super Eagles’ coach. Eguavoen’s resignation was confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). In its statement, the NFF said it has withdrawn the two-and-half-year coaching contract initially offered to the 53-year-old. It also said a new technical crew will be appointed to lead the Super Eagles.  Eguavoen had originally been hired as the Technical Director by the NFF. But he replaced Gernot Rohr as coach in December 2021, about two weeks before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon. It’s not yet known if Eguavoen would remain as Technical Director. Abuja-Kaduna Train Attack: NRC dismisses social media reports on 970 passengers on board  By Alabi Quadri  Barely days after terrorists bombed a Kaduna-bound train killing about nine persons, the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, has dismissed social media reports that about 970 passengers were on board the AK-9 train when tragedy struck.  In the early hours of Thursday, 31, March 2022, NRC Managing Director, Fidet Okhiria finally issued a statement on the incident, giving clarifications where necessary.  "The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, deeply commiserates with all the passengers on board the NRC AK9 train of 28th March 2022, their relatives and friends, the government and people of Kaduna state and the Federal Capital Territory as well as the entire nation. In particular, we regret the death of 8 of our passengers and security personnel attached to the train service as well as the injury suffered by scores of our passengers, not mentioning the trauma caused...
